In the Principality of Monaco where the catholic, apostolic and roman religion is the state religion, Saint Devote has always been intimately in connection with the history of the country and its traditions.
This attachment to Saint Devote is deeply felt and has lasted for a long time, not only in Monaco but also in Corsica.
Yet, some aspects of her life as well as the events devoted to her and some other aspects are not widely known or confused indeed totally unknown.
So is the modest ambition of this website: Being a modern support to let people discover or better know the true story of Saint Devote whose tradition has been rooted for centuries.
Why is the boat burnt ?
A fisherman wanted to steal the Saint's relics. To punish him, some other fishermen seized his boat and burnt it as a mark of reprisal and as an expiatory sacrifice.
